Last weekend we had friends over at our place and on Saturday we decided to have brunch at the newly opened restaurant, Besharam, near Dog patch and Potrero area (San Francisco). The restaurant is situated right opposite the Minnesota Philz Coffee just off the 3rd street, parking is not as difficult to find compared to other San Francisco areas.

The restaurant has a very rustic and minimalistic feel to it. As soon as you enter the building you see all stacked bar running the entire stretch on the right side and beautiful picnic style wooden seating with an open kitchen in front of you where you can see the Chef, Heena Patel, creating masterpieces.

The restaurant does Brunch, Lunch and Dinner. Here are their operational hours:

Lunch: Tuesday-Friday 11:00am-2:30pm
Dinner: Tuesday-Saturday 5:30pm-10pm
Brunch: Saturday-Sunday 11:00am-3:30pm

It was Indian food but with a twist, it was plated beautifully and tasted equally good. These were the few things we tried:

PAV BHAJI

Indian Brunch - Par Bhaji
Pav Bhaji

The taste is not the traditional Pav Bhaji taste you have in your mind, it’s a little tangy, the buns(Pavs) are not soft but crisp and there is no onion lemon salad but a seasoned slaw salad. To make it interesting the curry is topped up with a poached egg.

The quantity is good so if you are not super hungry 2 people can share 1 dish with extra buns(pavs).

EGG PARATHA & TURMERIC LEMONADE

You get 2 Indian parathas covered in fluffy egg batter with loads of cheese and vegetables and some edible flowers 🙂 The restaurant has an excellent selection of wines, beers and craft cocktails, not to forget mentioning the $20 bottomless mimosas but since we were not in a mood to do a boozy brunch we went ahead with coffee, Indian tea and superb Turmeric Lemonade.

Besharam joins the list of our favorite brunch spots in San Francisco, WFWA approved!!
